Transforming the Investor Relationship

In 1987, as brokers with a prominent brokerage firm, Scott Reed and John C. Hardy discovered they shared a decidedly progressive vision for managing their clients’ business. They established a team effort to provide objective investment advice within the structure of the brokerage firm.

By 1988, the Hardy|Reed team had begun to work with their clients as fee-only consultants instead of traditional brokers earning commissions, eliminating the potential for third parties to influence advice through commissions and other incentives.

During this exciting period, Scott and John developed a proprietary process for managing their clients’ portfolios. Expanding their knowledge, they earned their Certified Investment Management AnalystSM designations and attended the Securities Industry Institute® at the Wharton School of Business. They also earned the designation of Accredited Investment Fiduciary® from the Center for Fiduciary Studies in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. These designations, and the corresponding continuing education requirements, allow to team to operate with current methodologies and tools for fiduciary guidance.

In 2006, Scott and John felt their business model and emphasis on fiduciary responsibility was at odds with the commission-focused brokerage environment. They left the brokerage world after more than twenty years. Joining them in this transition were industry veterans Anita Giglio, Rick Hill, and Jackie Armstrong, who shared in their vision and in the creation of Hardy|Reed Capital Advisors, LLC, a registered investment advisory firm. In 2009, Ken Parkinson, a 15-year retirement planning industry veteran, joined the team, bringing the same level of expertise and objectivity to the Retirement Planning Services sector.

Headquartered in an historic building in Tupelo, Mississippi, Hardy|Reed Independent Investment Advisors, LLC, services individual and institutional clients nationwide.
